The Vast of Night
During the summer of 2016, I quit my job and moved to Whitney, Texas to make a movie with a couple of friends. Over the course of two months, we spent our days and nights hanging lights, building sets, scouting locations, doing camera tests, and driving go-karts. Through our endeavors, we built a team of collaborators and shot a feature film in 17 nights (all overnight production, 6pm-6am). I had the privilege of serving as the camera and gimbal operator on the production as well as an executive producer among other roles.
In the end, we created "The Vast of Night" and screened it at multiple film festivals around the country, across the border, and overseas, including the Toronto International Film Festival and Slamdance Film Festival. Amazon Studios purchased the film. I am very proud of "The Vast of Night". Working on the film gave me creative freedom to push the boundaries of cinematography with innovative techniques that are not allowed on a traditional film set. I will never forget the summer of 2016. You can watch "The Vast of Night" exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
